The Traditional fundamental techniques of the Art of Muay Thai Boran have been codified into a 4 section portfolio of techniques known collectively as "Chung Muay" (เชิงมวย). The portfolios provide information on the offensive applications of the 4 categories of Muay Thai Boran Corporeal Weapons. The 4 categories of weapons delineated in the Classical teachings are:
1. "Chung Mad" (เชิงหมัด), The 15 Fundamental Offensive applications of the Fist;
2. "Chung Sok" (เชิงศอก), The 24 Fundamental Offensive applications of the Elbow;
3. "Chung Kao" (เชิงเข่า), The 11 Fundamental Offensive applications of the Knee and;
4. "Chung Tao" (เชิงเท้า), The 15 Fundamental Offensive applications of the Foot.
Within this 65 technique curriculum there exists several types of offensive actions. The actions described in the Chung syllabus can be categorized as:
1. "Mai Ruk Neung Jangwa" (ไม้รุก๑จังหวะ), The 1-Strike Offensives;
2. "Mai Ruk Song Jangwa" (ไม้รุก๒จังหวะ), The 2-Strike Offensives;
3. "Mai Ruk Sam Jangwa" (ไม้รุก๓จังหวะ), The 3-Strike Offensives and;
4. "Mai Ruk Si Jangwa" (ไม้รุก๔จังหวะ), The 4-Strike Offensives.
Another way to categorize the various techniques is in terms of the number of limbs being utilized offensively. Some of the Chung Muay involve a single weapon, single strike offensive, while others involved dual weapon simultaneous attacks, triple weapon simultaneous attacks, or even quadruple weapon simultaneous attacks.
Another aspect of Chung Muay is the attack of multiple targets. This can be done at single or multiple levels of engagement, and can be done unilaterally or bilaterally. The Chung Muay curriculum instructs on the fundamental, but advanced usage of the Bodily Weapons to introduce offensive force to the adversary. This is done in a exceedingly scientific and efficacious manner.
We shall now elucidate the 65 powerful and unique techniques of Muay Thai Boran's Chung.
