MUAY THAI BORAN'S LOOK MAI
The technical syllabus known in the Thai language as "Look Mai" (ลูกไม้), is comprised of 15 fundamental variations techniques designed to incorporate all of the skills of Muay Thai Boran.
Look Mai are the more advanced counterparts of the 15 basic Mae Mai (เเม่ไม้). Besides the 15 primary variations found in the basic technical syllabus there are many other variations of each of the 15 named techniques which are derived from various other Regional Styles and schools of Muay Thai Boran. The following 15 Look Mai techniques represent the curriculum in its most basic form.
1. ERAWAN SOEI NGA (เอราวัณเสยงา) (THE 3-HEADED ELEPHANT GOD THRUSTS UP IT'S TUSKS)
2. BATA LOOP PAK (บาทาลูบพักตร์) (THE FOOT TOUCHES THE FACE)
3. KUN YAK PA NANG (ขุนยักษ์พานาง) (THE YAKSA ABDUCTS THE WOMAN)
4. PRA RAM NAO SON (พระรามน้าวศร) (KING RAMA BENDS THE ARROW)
5. GRAISON KAM HUAI (ไกรสรข้ามห้วย) (THE LION CROSSES THE STREAM)
6. GWANG LIEW LANG (กวางเหลียวหลัง) (THE DEER LOOKS BACK)
7. HIRAN MUAN PAENDIN (หิรัญม้วนแผ่นดิน) (THE YAKSA KING ROLLS UP THE EARTH)
8. NAKA MUD BADAN (นาคามุดบาดาล) (THE NAGA GOES INTO THE UNDERWORLD REALM OF PATALA)
9. HANUMAN TAWAI WAEN (หนุมานถวายแหวน) (THE VANARA GOD OFFERS A RING)
10. YUAN TOD HAE (ญวณทอดแห) (THE VIETNAMESE THROWS A FISHING NET)
11. TAYAE KAM SAO (ทะแยค้ำเสา) (THE TAYAE TRIBESMAN HOLDS UP A PILLAR)
12. HONG BIK HAK (หงส์ปีกหัก) (BREAK THE SWANS WING)
13. SAK PUANG MALAI (สักพวงมาลัย) (TATTOO A FLOWER GARLAND)
