THEY ARE ALSO THE ROPES USED IN "MUAY KAD CHEUAK" (มวยคาดเชือก), THE ANCIENT STYLE OF MUAY THAI BORAN COMBAT.
THE KNOTS ARE CALLED "GONHOI" (ก้นหอย) OR "SPIRAL SHELLS", AND ARE USED TO INFLICT DAMAGE TO THE ADVERSARY.
ONE FORM OF WEAPONIZING THE ROPES IS KNOWN AS "SEUA LEB" (เส็บเสือ) OR "TIGER CLAWING".
Traditional rope hand and arm wraps, which are known in Thai as "Kad Cheuak" (คาดเชือก).
On November 24th, 1928 a Muay Thasao exponent named "Pae Lieng Brasert" (แพ เลี้ยงประเสริฐ) fought with a reputedly unbeatable Cambodian boxer named "Nai Jia" (นายเจียร์) in Bangkok. In the third round of the fight the Cambodian attempted to swing at the Muay Boran practitioner only to be struck in the throat with the double uppercut technique.The Cambodian fell and later died from the blow. Pae was taken to prison on charges of murder which were later dismissed.
